Red Line Stabbing Leads To Attempted Murder Charge For Man, Police Say

The woman was seriously wounded in the attack, police said.

CHICAGO — A man has been charged with trying to stab a woman to death in a Red Line station, police said.

At 7:15 a.m. Saturday, Ricky McMahon was in the 95th/Dan Ryan Red Line station, 14 W. 95th St., when he stabbed a woman in her back, wrist and legs, police said.

Witnesses told police officers about the attack, and the officers chased McMahon to a bus shelter, arrested him and found a knife, police said.

Officers placed a tourniquet on the woman and she was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, police said. She was in serious condition.

McMahon, 32, has been charged with attempted murder and was scheduled to appear in Bond Court on Monday.
