CHICAGO — A man and woman from the suburbs have been charged with robbing people during a Tuesday night stickup spree around the North Side.
Walter Porter and Amanda Brown, both 22 and of suburban Calumet, robbed at least four people at gunpoint across Lincoln Park, Lakeview and North Center on Tuesday night, police said.
The first robbery happened 8:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Berenice Avenue, and the second happened 9:32 p.m. in the 2800 block of North Greenview Avenue, police said.
The two then went to the 2600 block of North Bosworth Avenue where, at 10 p.m., they robbed a man and a woman at gunpoint, police said.
About 20 minutes later, officers saw two people — Porter and Brown — who matched the descriptions of the robbers in the 1100 block of West Fullerton Avenue and tried to stop them. Officers were trying to talk to the two when Porter pulled away, which led to an officer falling and fracturing his or her hip, police said.
Officers chased the two briefly and caught them, finding a bag and gun, police said.
Porter has been charged with four counts of armed robbery, resisting an officer and unlawful possession of a gun, police said. Brown has been charged with four counts of armed robbery.
The two were scheduled to appear in Bond Court on Thursday.
