CHICAGO — An Austin man is charged with attempted murder after he robbed and stomped on a man’s head in a “brutal” attack, police said.
Early Monday, Dontae Decatur, 21, took a man’s car in the 1200 block of South Independence Boulevard, according to Chicago Police.
Decatur then “viciously attacked” the man, stomping on his head when he was on the ground, police said.
Police arrested Decatur in the 1200 block of South Avers Avenue at 1:20 a.m., soon after the robbery, police said. He resisted arrest, threatened officers and spit on them, police said.
Decatur was charged with attempted first-degree murder, vehicular hijacking with a gun, two counts of resisting arrest and simple assault.
Decatur was scheduled to appear in Bond Court on Wednesday.
