CHICAGO — An Austin festival will celebrate young people as they head back to school this weekend.
The Summer of Opportunity festival will feature free food, an art fair, train rides, a basketball tournament and more, according to the community group BUILD, which is organizing the event. It’s the second time the festival has been held.
“This community-building celebration aims to connect young people with positive activities and resources to have a safe and successful start to the school year,” according to BUILD.
Backpacks and school supplies will be available at the festival, as will vaccinations and health screenings.
The festival is noon-7 p.m. Friday at 5100 W. Harrison Street.
