NORTH PARK — Two men using a lost dog ruse stole from a pair of North Park homes, police said.

Police did not detail how exactly the thieves got into the homes, but said the ruse involved two men wearing reflective vests and using walkie talkies.

They claimed to be working nearby and had found a resident’s lost dog. As they were returning it, they got into the home and stole, police said.

The two burglaries happened in the 5900 block of North Saint Louis Avenue and the 5200 block of North Bernard Street on Aug. 9, between 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Police say the men were “heavy set,” had “goatee” facial hair and were using a black SUV.

Anyone with information regarding these burglaries can contact Area North detectives at 312-744-8263.
