SOUTH SHORE — The South Shore Summer Fest, the neighborhood’s biggest summer festival, returns for its eighth year of food and live music on the South Side’s shoreline this month.

Sponsored by Ald. Leslie Hairston (5th), the South Shore Chamber of Commerce and Special Service Area (SSA) #42, the festival aims to bring the neighborhood together, said Hank Zemola, producer for Chicago Special Events.
“One of the goals is to create a great community event where people can enjoy entertainment and socialize within their own community… there’s been a steady progression and I think it’s wonderful,” Zemola said.
In addition to music, the event will have family-friendly activities, including a performance by the South Shore Drill Team.
Osborne, the 70-year-old singer, is the main attraction on the stage. Past headline acts at the South Shore Summer Fest including R&B acts like Dru Hill, SWV and Al B. Sure!.
