BUCKTOWN — If you’ve always wanted to own a bags (or cornhole) set emblazoned with the Chicago Police logo, tomorrow is your chance to try and do that, as part of the community-focused National Night Out.
“1 day until the social event of the summer!,” the Chicago Police Department’s Shakespeare District (14th) tweeted on Monday, encouraging residents to “celebrate the community with your Shakespeare District Officers and neighbors.”
Scheduled for 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Holstein Park, 2200 N. Oakley Ave. in Bucktown, attendees can expect a climbing wall, bingo games, giveaways and free food, among other draws.
National Night Out, held the first Tuesday in August across the country, promotes partnerships between the police and community to make neighborhoods safer, better places to live.
This year, there will also be special prizes for Twitter followers. While at the event, residents will be encouraged to tweet photos of themselves enjoying National Night Out at Holstein Park to @ChicagoCAPS14 or use hashtag #NationalNightOut14thDistrict
“We will go through all the pics while there [at the event Tuesday] and randomly select followers to win. We have the bag set, CPD gear and an autographed Bears hat,” an organizer told Block Club.
The district covers parts of Wicker Park, Bucktown and Logan Square. For more info, call the District at 312-744-8290 or email CAPS.014District@chicagopolice.org.
