CHICAGO — A charity event is combining burlesque with a hockey tournament to raise money for an LGBTQ group.
The event, called Puck and Grind, will take place Friday, Aug. 17 and Saturday, Aug. 18. The first night starts with a burlesque performance at 9:30 p.m. at The Call, 1547 W. Bryn Mawr, where performers will “drop more than their gloves,” according to a news release.
There will be live music from the Schuyler Jackson Band. Admission will be free, through donations are encouraged, and there will be a raffle and specials on shots.
A three-on-three hockey tournament starts the next day at 3 p.m. at Johnny’s IceHouse, 2550 W. Madison St., when eight co-ed teams will face off to try to win the Puck and Grind Cup. Food and drinks will be available.
The event will benefit Howard Brown Health, which provides healthcare and wellness programs for LGBTQ people.
Player registration is available online and costs $75, and VIP player registration is $100.
The tournament is open to people of all ages, but burlesque show attendees must be 21 or older.
