HUMBOLDT PARK — Police are warning residents after a man attempted to abduct a six-year-old boy in Humboldt Park Friday.
At 6:30 p.m. Friday, a man entered a front yard in the 2700 block of West Augusta Boulevard and attempted to kidnap the child who was playing basketball, according to the community alert.
A family member intervened and the man ran off, police said.
The man was described as Hispanic, in his mid-to-late 20s, 175 pounds and between 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10. He had brown eyes, curly black hair, and was wearing a blue short-sleeved t-shirt, dark blue jeans, and blue and red Nike gym shoes, police said.
Police said the man had a fresh cut or scratch on his right forehead.
