WEST LOOP — The Chicago Police Department is warning residents after a string of carjackings were reported this month in the West Loop. 

In three separate incidents, a person was approached by at least two people who showed a handgun before stealing a vehicle, police said in a community alert.

Most recently, at 10:31 p.m. July 9, a rideshare driver was waiting to pick up a rider at the 700 block of North May Street when two teenagers got into the car and showed a handgun, stealing the car before driving southbound on Ogden Avenue, police said. 

At about 12:04 a.m. July 8, a person parked their car on the 800 block of West Adams Street was approached by five men, one of which showed a gun and drove away with the car, police said. 

At about 6:39 p.m. July 3, a valet driver was parking a vehicle on the 700 block of West Fulton Market. Two men walked up took the victim’s property and stole the vehicle, police said.
