CHICAGO — Two armed carjackers forced their victim to take them to someone who had money before he escaped on the Dan Ryan Expressway early Friday, police said.
At 1:15 a.m., a 32-year-old man was pulling into his garage in the 2700 block of West 38th Place when two men got into the garage with him, police said. The men had guns and they pulled the victim out of his car and robbed him.
The victim told the men he didn’t have money, so they made him get into a passenger’s seat in the car and told him to give them directions to someone he knew who could give them money, police said.
The carjacker driving the car got onto the Dan Ryan Expressway at one point and the victim was able to escape out of the car as they drove, police said. Illinois State Police troopers found the man on the expressway and got him to a Chicago Police station.
The man was not injured. His car, a white 2015 Acura MDX, has not been found.
No one was in custody.
