Robbers Beating, Stealing From People On Cellphones In Lincoln Park, Police Say

There have been at least three similar robberies in the last week, police said.

CHICAGO — Robbers have been targeting people on cellphones in Lincoln Park and Old Town.

During three recent robberies, people were on their phones when a group of teens or men came up, beat the people and then stole their phone and other items, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

The robberies occurred:

  • Evening of July 18 in the 2000 block of North Burling Street
  • Evening of July 18 in the 1300 block of North Cleveland Street
  • Early afternoon Saturday in the 1800 block of North Halsted Street

The robbers were described as two to three boys or men who were 16-22 years old, police said.
