LOGAN SQUARE — Another coffee shop is joining the neighborhood — this time on a booming stretch of Diversey Avenue.
A storefront across from farm-to-table eatery Cellar Door Provisions and wine shop Diversey Wine will soon be home to roaster Four Letter Word’s first coffee shop in the city.
The shop at 3022 W. Diversey Ave. will serve Four Letter Word coffee and bites from neighbor Cellar Door Provisions, according to co-owner Ria Neri. She and her two business partners, Eylem Ozkaya and Kevin Heisner, are aiming for an August opening.
Four Letter Word started in 2014, when the trio opened a coffee shop and roasting facility in Burgaz Island, Istanbul. Several years later, they opened a roasting facility in The Plant, an innovative production facility in Back of the Yards. The Logan Square coffee shop is the group’s latest project.
Logan Square has a booming coffee shop scene that shows no signs of slowing down; Passion House, Caffe Umbria and Sip of Hope are just a few shops that have joined the neighborhood in recent months. But the competition doesn’t intimidate Neri, who said she’s confident Four Letter Word’s coffee shop will stand out. Their shop, she said, is a product of the unique bond they share — and that can’t be replicated.
“I think all small independent shops are unique on their own, since a shop’s personality is often defined by their owners and staff,” Neri wrote in an email.
“The three of us have been friends for ages and we inspire each other to be creative in our lives. We hope the place will bring that sort of positive energy to whoever sets foot in it.”
