LINCOLN SQUARE — A cultural center was tagged with graffiti earlier this month, police said.

At about 12:20 a.m. July 15, an unknown person or persons sprayed graffiti all over the east, west and north sides of a building in the 4700 block of North Western Avenue, Chicago Police spokesman Patrick McGinnis said.

Last Thursday, DANK Haus, a German American cultural center located at 4740 N. Western Ave., asked its Facebook page followers if they recognized boys in video stills they shared on the page from the early morning hours of July 15.

The July 15 video stills also apparently show two people climbing up the fire escape of DANK’s building between 12:21 a.m. and 12:53 a.m.

No further information was available, police said.

DANK Haus leaders declined to comment.

“The DANK Haus will not be commenting on the vandalism,” Monica Jirak, executive director at DANK, in an email on Monday.
