PILSEN — Taco and tamale fans, rejoice — the Tacos y Tamales Festival is back this weekend to once again highlight the best tacos and tamales in Pilsen.
Inspired by tianguis — traditional Mexican markets — the fest runs from 5-10 p.m. Friday and noon-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at West 16th and South Peoria streets.
Yvolina’s Tamales, Taqueria Los Comales, L’Patron, La Cebollita Grill, Dia De Los Tamales, Don Pedro Carnitas, Churro Factory, La Patrona, El Jefe , Cemitas Puebla and more will be serving up tacos and tamales all weekend long.
Music acts will range from traditional mariachi to Latin rock pop. Performers include Los Vicios de Papa, Sonora Dinamita and Mariachi Sirenas. Tribute acts are also set to problem hits from Santana, Selena and Celia Cruz.
The fest is free, but attendees will be asked to give an optional $5 donation when they enter the fest. The donation benefits the Frida Kahlo Community Organization.
