CHICAGO — A 59-year-old woman was slain by a man trying to hijack the car she was in Sunday morning in West Humboldt Park, police said.
At 7:15 a.m., a 71-year-old man, 70-year-old woman and the 59-year-old woman were driving in the 900 block of North Kedvale Avenue when a man walked up to the car and took out a gun, police said.
The 71-year-old man drove away, but the gunman fired shots at the back of the car, police said.
The 59-year-old woman, who was in the back seat, was shot in her head and was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. She was later pronounced dead.
The 71-year-old man and 70-year-old woman were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital for observation.
No one was in custody.
