CHATHAM — An 82-year-old man was among three people wounded in a single shooting late Thursday in Chatham, police said.
At 10:40 p.m., the three victims were walking in the 8200 block of South Wentworth Avenue when a man in a ski mask and black clothing fired shots at them, police said.
The 82-year-old man was hit in his back and was taken to University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
A 22-year-old woman was hit in her shoulder and a 31-year-old man was hit in his ankle. They were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where their conditions were not available but they were listed as “stable,” police said.
Witnesses said the shooter appeared to aim at the younger people, police said. The 82-year-old man was walking ahead of the other victims and was not thought to have been an intended target of the shooting.
No one was in custody.
