WICKER PARK — The parking lot next to Big Star’s patio will be home to three upcoming summer pop-up markets featuring live music, dog adoptions, food and “unique finds from local boutiques,” according to planners.
Set for noon-4 p.m. Saturday at 1531 N. Damen, the first market will offer music by DJ Courtland. Artisanal paletas (Mexican popsicles made with fresh fruit), as well as agua frescas (fresh fruit juices) from nearby Dove’s Luncheonette, will be for sale.
The next installment of the market on Saturday, July 28, will feature snacks from Publican Anker and dogs available for adoption through event partner One Tail at a Time.
On Saturday, August 11, The Violet Hour will set up shop with a “botanical bar” selling DIY bitters kits along with goods from Pilsen’s Shadow Emporium Apothecary & Shoppe and a spirit-free punch featuring VH+, The Violet Hour’s line of specialty cocktail mixes. That pop-up partner will be the Drinking Fountain, a nonprofit focused on raising money for clean water initiatives.
