DOWNTOWN — A person was seriously injured after being hit by lightning on Wednesday night.
The incident happened at Monroe and Lake Shore Drive near Maggie Daley Park, according to a Fire Department tweet. The person, whose age and gender were not immediately available, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in serious condition, a Chicago Fire spokesman said. The person was an adult.
The National Weather Service warned before the strike that a storm was forming over the Downtown area and lightning would be possible.
