DOWNTOWN — A 16-year-old girl was attacked with a hammer in a Gold Coast business on Monday night.
At 9:15 p.m., officers were called to the first block of East Chicago Avenue and found the girl with a laceration on her forehead, police said. Witnesses told officers the girl got into an argument with a 36-year-old woman and the woman hit the girl with a hammer.
Officers saw the woman standing behind a counter while holding a hammer, police said. They took the hammer and arrested the woman.
Charges were pending, police said. The girl was treated at the scene.
