PILSEN — Just in time for BBQ season, Moody Tongue Brewing in Pilsen is debuting a new summertime brew.
The Frozen Banana Hefeweizen is the latest beer in the Pilsen brewery’s seasonal series. The seasonal beer is a German-style wheat beer combining banana flavors with bubblegum aromatics.
The brewery at 2136 S. Peoria St. will offer the Banana Hefeweizen on draft in its tasting room starting Wednesday.
“Our Hefeweizen is meant for enjoying right now, under the sun, as people fire up their grills or head out to the lake,” said Jared Rouben, Moody Tongue’s brewmaster.
The brewery will also offer the Frozen Banana Hefeweizen at select Chicago restaurants in July, followed by national distribution.
Moody Tongue previously released the Brûléed Banana Dunkelweizen as part of the series in winter.
Rouben, who trained at the Culinary Institute of America and worked in Michelin-starred restaurants, opened Moody Tongue Brewing Company in 2014. The brewery’s tasting room opened in summer 2016.
