You Can Celebrate Pride With Drag Queens, LGBTQ Arts And Crafts At Navy Pier

DOWNTOWN — There will be LGBTQ-themed movies, music and fun at Navy Pier Pride this weekend.

The Saturday event will include story time with drag queens, LGBTQ-themed arts and crafts for kids, live music and a movie showing.

But one of the main events will be Queer the Pier, which will use music, fashion and other mediums to showcase the history of queer club culture through several events. Queer the Pier will run 5 p.m. to midnight at the Miller Lite Beer Garden, ending with a house set after a fireworks show at the pier.

The Children’s Museum at the south dock will offer Pride-themed arts and crafts 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and local drag queens will read to children at the west performance platform noon to 1 p.m.

Navy Pier Pride will also feature live music: The Lakeside Pride Marching Band will perform at 1:30 p.m. at the south dock and the Gay Men’s Choir will sing 3-4 p.m. at the grand staircase, among other acts occurring throughout the day.

Local organizations like Howard Brown Health and PFLAG will also have informational resources 1-5 p.m. at the south dock.

Attendees will also be able to see a fireworks show starting at 10:15 p.m. at the south dock.
