LITTLE ITALY—A 17-year-old boy died Tuesday after being shot early Monday morning, police said.
The teenager and a 23-year-old woman were fatally shot and four others were injured in an early Monday morning shhooting, according to police.
The shooting occurred around 4:50 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Loomis Street at the Chicago Housing Authority’s ABLA/ Brooks Homes following an overnight party, police said.
Erin Carey, 17, was shot multiple times in the head and taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, where he died Tuesday, officials said.
The teen died early Tuesday, more than 20 hours after he was shot in the head at the party. The Chicago Tribune reported his body was covered with a sheet at the scene for at least an hour, though he had not yet died, as paramedics rushed to treat others who were shot.
Onlookers began yelling as his arms and legs twitched, the Tribune reported.
Shalonza McToy, 23, was found at the 1400 block of South Washburne with multiple gunshot wounds to the chest, left arm, head and ear. She was pronounced at the scene.
When police arrived at the scene, two men, 21 and 23-year-old, ran toward police with gunshot wounds. The 21-year-old was shot in the right calf, and 23-year-old was shot in the right arm. They were both taken to Stroger Hospital where their conditions stabilized, police said.
A fifth person, a 23-year-old man, was also shot multiple times in the abdomen and taken to Mt. Sinai Medical Center by his girlfriend, where his condition stabilized.
A sixth victim, a 21-year-old man, walked into Rush Hospital with a gunshot wound to his left leg, where he was treated and released, police said.
A weapon was recovered on the scene and Area Central Detectives are still investigating the shooting.
