The man was killed in the 5000 block of North Bernard Street
CHICAGO — A 26-year-old man was shot to death in North Park on Friday morning.
At 9:44 a.m., the man was in the basement of a home in the 5000 block of North Bernard Street when there was an argument, police said.
Someone took out a gun and fired a shot, hitting the man in his head, police said. He died at the scene.
A woman was in custody in the shooting, according to the Chicago Tribune.
No further information was immediately available.
Mayor Brandon Johnson also confirmed he would join a city delegation to visit the southern border "as soon as possible." More than 17,000 asylum seekers have arrived in Chicago since August 2022.
A publishing error by the City Clerk's office resulted in the ordinance being left off the council's agenda Wednesday. Alderpeople will return to City Hall Friday for a final vote.
The ordinances approved by City Council are a win for Ald. Brian Hopkins, who has pushed to establish a liquor license moratorium and crack down on drunken, disorderly behavior.
The limited-edition fall flavor will be available throughout October for $8 a shot at CH Distillery's bar in the West Loop.
