Daytime Burglars Hit Six Edgewater Homes

Burglars have gotten in by forcing open doors and windows, police say

Burglars hit a home in the 5300 block of North Kenmore, police said.

CHICAGO — Six Edgewater homes have been hit by burglaries since the end of May.

During three burglaries, the thieves forced open doors by kicking or hitting them, according to a Chicago Police community alert.

Those burglaries occurred:

• 10:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. May 22 in the 5300 block of North Kenmore Avenue

• 10 a.m.-6:10 p.m. May 25 in the 5300 block of North Kenmore Avenue

• June 10-14 in the 5700 block of North Winthrop Avenue

The area has also seen a string of burglaries where the thief or thieves forced their way into homes through unlocked windows or doors or by prying open doors, according to police.

Those burglaries occurred:

• Noon-8 p.m. June 2 in the 1400 block of West Hollywood Avenue

• 7-8:09 p.m. June 2 in the 1400 block of West Hollywood Avenue

• 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. June 13 in the 5600 block of North Ridge Avenue

No descriptions of the burglars were available.
