PULLMAN — If September feels too far away for the Taste of Chicago in Grant Park, Pullman Park has you covered.

The Far South Side version of Taste will kick off 12-8 p.m. Saturday at Pullman (George) Park, 11101 S. Cottage Grove Ave.

Although the NASCAR race took over the Taste’s usual Fourth of July spot in Grant Park this summer, the event will take place in three other parks to go along with the Downtown location. Besides Pullman Park, these alternate Taste locations include Humboldt Park, which took place on June 24, and Marquette Park, which happens on August 5.

Aside from food, Chicago SummerDance members will be at Saturday’s event offering free lessons in footwork, salsa, East Coast Swing and line dancing for all skill levels. Below is the schedule of the lessons, including the organizations leading each dance:

  • 12 p.m. Footwork – The Urban Ark
  • 1 p.m. Salsa – Dance Academy of Salsa
  • 2 p.m. East Coast Swing – Chicago Dance
  • 3 p.m. Line Dancing – Just Jammin’ with Janelle and Company

Pullman Park’s Taste of Chicago will feature 21 different vendors and food trucks, including Chicago’s Doghouse, Prime Taco’s, Cynthia’s Gumbo Express Inc., Frios Gourmet Pops and more. There will also be interactive art-making and engagement stations as well as more music and dancing with live DJs.

The Pullman Taste has free admission and doesn’t require food tickets, as all vendors accept cash and credit. The full list of vendors and food trucks can be found here.
